Things to know before adding Custom Search Engines Manually
Among the many features Chromium's Omnibox offers is the ability to search a site without navigating to the sites homepage. Once Chromium has determined it can search a site, any time the user types the URL of the site into the Omnibox the user is offered the ability to search the site. Once the user presses tab, then types in a string and presses the enter, the site is searched and the results shown to the user. It's important to note the search is done by the site itself, not Google or Chromium. Tab to Search
As long as Chrome recognizes a site's search box as a 'search box', then you right-click inside the search box, and you'll have an option to 'Add as Search Engine...'
To access 'Manage Search Engines'
Method #1:
Right-click in Address bar (omnibox)
Click 'Edit search engines...'
Method #2:
1. Click Google Chrome's menu button ('3 lines' icon; upper-right corner)
2. Click 'Settings'
3. Click 'Manage search engines..' (button) under section 'Search'

Using a file to quickly allow others to use your Custom Search Engines
In this custom search engine, we just pass the search information to a locally stored file with JavaScript code instead of running inline JavaScript. The file has all the code where additional keywords are likely determined in case statements:
To set up Chrome Search Engine to Reference a File
Open Chrome to chrome://chrome/settings/searchEngines
Under 'Other Search Engines', type a new name in the first field, e.g. My Redirects
In the Keyword field, type anything you wish to trigger the search
In the URL field, type in file://<location you saved script>?%s.
Bonus: Hover your mouse pointer over the new Search, and click the 'Make Default' button that appears. This will allow you search using your script rather than another default engine you could have like google. Could remove the need for keyword activation in the omnibox if you are interested.
